Laurel Storms Past Milford

The Laurel boys basketball team avenged last weeks loss to Milford by beating the Bucs 58-47 Tuesday night. The win improves the Bulldogs to 8-3, while the loss drops the Buccaneers to 5-6.

The Bulldogs would jump out to the early lead led by Chucky August and Gary Warren. The back court combo would connect on shots from 10 first quarter points as Laurel would take a 14-7 lead into the second. There the combo would continue to use their athleticism to get into the open court and August began to distribute the ball all over the court to his teammates.

The Bucs though would fight back behind Henry Nesmith’s game high 19 points. Milford would cut the deficit down to just 7 points before Warren would take over down the stretch, scoring 5 straight points to put the game away.

Laurel returns to action Thursday when they host Salisbury School, while Milford returns to the court Thursday when they host Sussex Central.
