Jan. 16 – Hike With Purpose

Delaware Seashore State Park invites the public to explore the outdoors with the program “Geocaching: Hike with a Purpose”. Geocaching is a global hobby that sends participants to unique and often hidden locations in order to find caches: small containers than can hold anything from logbooks to small keepsakes. These locations are found using coordinates and handheld GPS units although the caches themselves are often strategically hidden and can be difficult to find.
Program participants will compete against each other to locate caches hidden along the Fresh Pond Tract. Each cache contains clues to a final secret location and the first team to reach this location wins. The Fresh Pond Tract is approximately 3.5 miles long: Participants are urged to wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a water bottle.
The fee for this program is $6 and includes all necessary equipment. This program is suitable for ages 6 and up (children under 13 must be accompanied by a paying adult). Pre-registration is required. For more information or to register, please contact the Indian River Life-Saving Station at (302) 227-6991 or at destateparks.com.
