Indians Hold Off Pocomoke, Take Control of Bayside South
The Wi-Hi boys basketball team was able to hold off a furious rally by Pocomoke to win 88-76 on Tuesday night in front of a packed house at the “Waller Dome” in Salisbury.
WiHi jumped out to a 26-12 lead in the first quarter, shooting 5-10 from the field including going 4-7 from behind the arc and shooting. The hot start pushed WiHi off to a 50-28 lead at the half. Pocomoke would come out in the third fired up on defense, allowing just 17 points in the quarter, and scoring 23. Although the lead was cut to as little as 6, WiHi hit some key free throws in the end, and came away with the 12 point win.
With the win, Wicomico takes sole possession of first place in the very competitive Bayside South. The win drops Pocomoke to 10-2 on the year, with both of their losses coming to WiHi.
