Delaware State women’s basketball falls to Pittsburgh

The Delaware State University women’s basketball team traveled to Pittsburgh to play in their 7-game road trip finale. DSU’s single-win came at home against Millersville, but have yet to get a win since including a loss against Pittsburgh 93-58.

The Lady Hornets did not have any luck against ACC powerhouse Pittsburgh, who stole the game from the very beginning. The first half score was 52-28, and Pitt would continue to control the game thereafter.

The second half opened up with am 18-5 run for Pittsburgh as they continued to play solid in all areas making it tough to let DSU back into the game – the final score was Pittsburgh 93 – Delaware State 58.

Pittsburgh shot for fifty percent, making 33 of 66 shots while knocking down only six 3-pointers of 21, and hitting 21 of 23 free throws.

Meanwhile, DSU hit 23 of 55 from the field while they were 3 of 11 from the 3-point range, and missed four free throws, making 9 of 13.

The Lady Hornet’s leading scorer was Amber Bogard with 13 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and a steal.

Up next, the DSU’s lady Hornets will be back in action at home for just the second time this season on January 10 against Morgan State at 2:00 pm.
