Delaware organization urges for cannabis reform

Dozens gathered in Dover on Thursday to discuss the possibility legalizing marijuana in Delaware.
The Cannabis Bureau of Delaware is asking lawmakers to consider treating marijuana like alcohol. They’re asking for cannabis to be made legal for adults — 21 years old and older — to have it for recreational purposes.
One of their arguments is that cannabis is non-toxic and scientifically proven to be much safer than alcohol, as bureau co-chair Zoë Patchell explains.
” It was criminalized in a time where we didn’t have the Internet. We didn’t have the readily available information we have now.” Says Patchell. “A lot of people say that withdrawal is comparable to caffeine and nobody’s prosecuting for caffeine.”
Patchell also claims cannabis legalization would increase revenues in the First State. She reportedly brought the issue to District 9 Representative Kevin Hensley. 47 ABC reached out to his office on Thursday evening. An immediate comment was not available.
