Code purple alert in Milford for cold weather

The City of Milford Police Department has issued a Code Purple, due to dropping temperatures this week.

The Code Purple, which opens shelters to homeless in low temperatures, will be in effect from Wednesday, January 7th thru Sunday, January 11th. The morning leave time for every location is at 7 AM for each day. As of now officials say sanctuaries will be closed as of Monday, January 12th at 7 AM unless otherwise noted.

The following sanctuaries will be open on particular days as listed below:

Wednesday January 7th-

  • Dover Presbyterian Church (men only) opens 5pm Overflow to Dover Interfaith Mission.
  • Wesley UMC (women and children) opens 5pm.
  • Milford Community Center (women and children) opens 5pm Direct line 302-725-0770.

Thursday January 8th-

  • Dover Presbyterian Church (men only) opens 5pm Overflow to Dover Interfaith Mission.
  • Wesley UMC (women and children) opens 5pm.
  • Wyoming UMC (women and children) opens 6pm.
  • Milford Community Center (women and children) opens 5pm Direct line 302-725-0770.

Friday January 9th-

  • Dover Presbyterian Church (men only) opens 5pm Overflow to Dover Interfaith Mission.
  • Shepherd’s Place (women and children) opens 5pm.
  • Wyoming UMC (women and children) opens 6pm.
  • Milford Community Center (women and children) opens 5pm Direct line 302-725-0770.

Saturday January 10th-

  • Dover Presbyterian Church (men only) opens 5pm Overflow to Dover Interfaith Mission.
  • Shepherd’s Place (women and children) opens 5pm.
  • Milford Community Center (women and children) opens 5pm.

Sunday January 11th-

  • Mt Carmel Church (men only).
  • Shepherd’s Place (women and children) opens 5pm.
  • Milford Community Center (women and children) opens 5pm.
