Blades Elementary teacher honored as a “Teacher Who Makes A Difference”

One local educator got a neat surprise on Thursday morning when the 47 ABC News crew surprised her with a “Teacher Who Makes A Difference” award.

This monthly award from 47 ABC and Accurate Optical was awarded to Miss Melissa Wills for the month of December.

Ms. Wills teaches 24 kindergartners at Blades Elementary and tells us, one on her favorite parts of her job is meeting new students and their families each year. Ms. Wills has taught at all four schools in the Seaford School District in her 33 years of teaching and will be retiring after this year.

“I will miss being with kids everyday. I will miss the staff. This is an incredible staff here at Blades Elementary School and I’ll miss that.” She explains. “But I plan on coming in to volunteer and do it on my own time.”
