Bennett Thumps Mardela For Another Road Win
The James M. Bennett boys basketball team picked up another road win Thursday night when they traveled to Mardela and defeated the Warriors 82-52. The win improves the Clippers to 5-5, while the loss drops the Warriors to 1-7.
Bennett jumped out to a quick lead in the first after Jorden Duffy came out firing. The senior connected on shots from the outside, broke his man down to get to the rack for lay ins, and was finding the open man to get his teammates involved. After he got going, Bennett would take a double digit lead into the second. There, Mardela tried to change the tempo of the game into a half court, and began to try and run their sets. they would space the floor for Nate McCoy who would get by his man for a couple straight lay ups.
The Clippers would counter by using a full court trap out of the half, and the Warriors had no answer for it. Duffy would add several more lay ups on his way to a game high 31 points, while Barry Gaines Jr. would add 16 and Michael jean-Charles would tally 10. The Warriors were led by Caleb Corbins 16 points and McCoy’s 15.
Mardela returns to action Tuesday when they travel to Wicomico High School, while Bennett will host Stephen Decatur on Tuesday.
