Bennett Soars By Seahawks

The James M. Bennett boys basketball team jumped out to a big lead and held on for a 82-52 win over Stephen Decatur. The win improves the Clippers to 5-4 while the loss drops the Seahawks to 3-5.

The Clippers blitz the Seahawks early on. Barry Gaines Jr. and Jorden Duffy got out into the open court where they were scoring acrobatic lay in after lay in. Quickly they built up a double digit lead as the Seahawks were struggling finishing around the rim. As the first quarter came to a close, Bennett had already built up a 23-5 lead. The start of the second quarter wasn’t any better for Decatur, as Bennett’s lead continued to grow.

The Seahawks though would find their footing, and begin to make a run to get back in the game. Ja’Ron Johnson would score a few easy lay ins and then find Tyree Henry down low for some quick scores as well. But just as they had got themselves back into the game, the Clippers put their foot back to the pedal. A big second half from Gaines would put the game away.

Bennett returns to action Thursday when they travel to play Wicomico High School while Decatur returns to action Thursday when they host Parkside.
