Alleged plot to kill DE officials

Attorney General Matt Denn was targeted in an alleged plot to kill Delaware officials.

Jeffrey Brian Cohen is facing federal charges of wire fraud, money laundering, and obstruction of justice.

The obstruction of justice charges include details alleging that Cohen, a businessman based out of Maryland and Washington D.C., “did knowingly attempt to kill another person.”

According to the indictment, in June 2014, Cohen bought a $25,000 long range Tactical Rifle, had explosives which he researched how to use, and had ordered incendiary ammunition and a fuse.

Cohen also allegedly made a “Target List,” which included a reference to “DE Folks.” The Delaware Department of Justice has confirmed to 47 ABC that Attorney General Matt Denn, who was Lieutenant Governor at the time, was targeted, along with a Vice Chancellor in the Delaware Court of Chancery. The indictment says Cohen even made a “scouting trip” to their houses.

According to the documents, Cohen did this alleged plotting with the intention of preventing information from being handed over to law enforcement or as retaliation for such information already being handed over.

Federal officials tell 47 ABC that Cohen is representing himself in this case. A judge has ordered Cohen to be detained and he remains in federal custody.
