“The Interview” to show in Rehoboth Beach theater despite national threats

Just a few days ago Sony’s motion picture “The Interview” had its premiere and showing threatened.
Tomorrow, the outlandish comedy, the story of two Americans assassinating North Korean Dictator Kim Jong Un, is set to play as originally planned at the Movies at Midway Theater in Rehoboth.
John Mank, the assistant theater manager at Movies at Midway feels the film should be shown and should be taken lightly, saying “I think it needs to be shown. It’s a comedy I think people are taking this way too serious.”
The film will show in just under 200 theaters across the country on Christmas Day.
It’s debut will please many fans and viewers, who the hackers threats were intended to scare. However, as Mank says, it has only helped the films cause. “Now there’s going to a bigger hype because now people are really gonna want to see it.”
The attempted suppression of the film by North Korean hackers has even sparked a sense a patriotism amongst some movie-goers, who say they plan to check out the comedy.
“If you don’t play it you’re giving into terrorism, so I think it should be played.” and “It would increase my wanting to see it.” said Jay Eskovitz of Dunloring, Virginia.
Another movie-goer, Marcia Weinberg, of North Bethesda, Maryland expressed her strong feelings about the situation, saying “I’m very very anxious to see it because I believe in our freedom to decide what we want to see when we want to see it and I don’t want any other government or people to tell me what I should or shouldn’t do or see.”
The Movies at Midway will be showing “The Interview” once on Christmas Day at 9:25 PM.
