SU women’s basketball improves to 8-0

The SU Seagulls women’s basketball team defeated the Christopher Newport University Captains in a close game, 62-58 was the final score. Both teams battled back and forth, but the Gulls pulled out the big win.

Anna Hackett had a team high of 18 points which attributed to her moving up to the seventh spot on the SU all-time career points record. The Gulls played tough defense and kept fighting throughout the game to get the win.

Christopher Newport University’s Camry Green put up a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds and 2 blocks. She had an impressive performance and was solid on defense for the Captains.

The rivalry between these two teams remains, but the Gulls made it a point to get the win tonight to make up for the loss that came last year in the tournament.

SU women’s basketball heads into Christmas break at an impressive 8-0 and know that being ranked makes them a target to beat for other teams.

The Gulls resume play on December 28, against Ill. Wesleyan at the Montclair Tournament at 7:30 pm.
