Salisbury man held on $1 million bond on assault charges

A Salisbury man is being held on $1 million bond, after he reportedly tried to strangle his roommate. The Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office says on December 23rd, 31-year-old Gualberto Ventura Marroquin-Paxtor assaulted a woman that he lived with in a Zion Road home, while threatening to kill her and her kids.

The victim apparently told Police that at one point, Marroquin-Paxtor pulled a knife on her, and used an electrical cord from a heater to try and strangle her. Police say the victim tried to run from him, and Marroquin-Paxtor grabbed her hair, and pulled her back into the room, where he continued to assault her. Marroquin-Paxtor reportedly threatened to kill the victim and her children if she contacted police.

Marroquin-Paxtor was eventually arrested, and charged with assault 1st degree, and dangerous weapon. He was initially held on $50,000, but that was raised to $1,000,000 following a bond review.
