Parkside Boys Basketball Takes Thriller Over Bennett
The Parkside boys basketball team remained perfect on the season Thursday night when they gutted out a 82-81 over rival James M. Bennett. The win improves the Rams to 5-0 while the loss drops the Clippers to 2-3.
The Clippers would throw the first punch in this heavy weight battle as Jorden Duffy opened the game on fire. He would score 24 points by halftime helping his team to a 43-46 lead. Things would change in the second half though as the Rams turned up the pressure. Dajour Diggs would come up with a couple steals that would lead to some easy buckets. The Rams would still be down 9 late in the 4th before they would start a comeback. Diggs would score an and 1 lay up to get his team back with 6 before a Gaynor dunk would make it a 4 point game. After a couple free throws and another Diggs lay up, the Rams would eventually take a 2 point lead before Duffy would go coast to coast for an and 1 lay in for the final 3 of his 30 points on the night. Rams would answer with 3 free throws before Tyree Young hit a three in the corner to tie it.
But while everyone was in shock, Diggs got the ball out, raced it up the court and drew a blocking foul. After missing his first free throw, his second would spin on the rim before finally dropping. The Clippers couldn’t find the answer as Parkside got the win.
Bennett returns to action Friday when they host Crisfield, while Parkside returns to the court Friday when they host Cambridge South Dorchester.
