One arrested on drug charges in Rehoboth Beach

A month long investigation into the illegal sale of drugs in Rehoboth Beach, has wrapped up with an arrest.

Rehoboth Beach Police say during an investigation into the distribution of cocaine and crack cocaine in the area of 4th Street, they discovered that 38-year-old Jonathan Harris, was involved.

On December 22nd, they arrested Harris, who was found to be consuming marijuana, while driving a vehicle with a small child inside. During the arrest, Police say Harris resisted arrest, and tried to destroy evidence. Police reportedly found 25 grams of cocaine, 2.8 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and $200 cash during Harris’ arrest.

He was then charged with possession of a controlled substance in a tier 5 quantity, 2 counts of tampering with evidence, resisting arrest with force, offensive touching law enforcement, possession of marijuana with an aggravating factor, possession of marijuana, endangering the welfare of a child while DUI, drug related DUI, possession of drug paraphernalia, and criminal mischief. He was later released after posting $29,000 bond. Harris is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on January 30th.
