Ocean City flooding solutions

Ocean City’s bayside is seeing a big threat from the rising sea levels.
However, the town’s environmental engineer says they can’t stop mother nature, but what they can do is make improvements to protect the area.
Rising sea levels are a global issue, they’re not just happening in Ocean City. However, they are beginning a pilot program in the spring called “back flow preventors.” The goal is to reduce the magnitude, intensity, and duration of floods.
Environmental engineers say the majority of floods come from the storm drains, and these proposed “back flow preventors” would move water towards the bulk heads, and away from homes and critical road ways.
