McCoy’s Hot Hand Lifts Mardela Boys Basketball to Win vs. St. Michaels
Mardela, MD – The Mardela boys basketball team opened up their season with a nice win Friday night, defeating St. Michaels 75-31. The win moves the Warriors to 1-0 on the year, while the loss drops the Saints to 0-1.
Mardela would open the game with hot shooting from the outside, lead by Zach Hyland to take a 13-3 lead. The Warriors would then capitalize on a few Saints miscues to get out in the open floor for a few easy transition buckets to build a 30-12 lead by half time. St. Michaels would come out of the break and start hitting a few shots of their own as they tried to generate a spark. Antonio Smith would connect on a couple 3's, but it wasn't nearly enough. Nate McCoy would keep his foot on the pedal and leave little doubt in this one as he carved through the Saints defense for lay up and lay up. He finished with a game high 26 points.
Mardela returns to action Tuesday when they travel to play Stephen Decatur, while the Saints return to action Tuesday when they host North Dorchester.
