Mackes to step down in Wicomico County

Wicomico County is losing a staple in it’s recreation and parks department.

According to County Executive Bob Culver, Gary Mackes, director of Wicomico County department of recreation, park, and tourism, is stepping down.

We’re told his decision to retire came down yesterday and was officially announced today.

Mackes will finish up at the end of December, but his replacement hasn’t been named yet. Officials tell 47 ABC there will be an approval process for anyone looking to fill the seat.
