Laurel Survives Lake Comeback, Remain Undefeated
The Laurel boys basketball survived a near collapse, blowing a 25 point lead, only to win 69-68 over Henlopen foe Lake Forest Friday night.
Laurel, who led 42-23 at the half, and 57-39 after 3, saw their lead shrink to as little as one in the second half. The Spartans would score 29 points in the fourth quarter, cutting the Bulldogs lead to 3 with 32 seconds to go. After forcing a turnover and getting another layup, Lake found themselves down 1 with the ball, and six seconds remaining.
After recieving the inbound and being trapped, the Lake player would step out of bounds to turn it back over to Laurel. Lake would get one last attempt at the buzzer but the three point atttempt would fall off the back of the rim as Laurel held on for the win.
Lake Forest (0-5) moves to the Middletown Christmas Tournament, while Laurel will enter the Governors’ Challenge unbeaten at 4-0.
