Laundry room fire causes thousands of dollars in damages to Chestertown home

Maryland State Fire Marshal of the Upper Eastern Region, have reported a house fire in a Kent County residents caused by a dryer.

Officials say about 6:15 PM Monday evening, the Rock Hall and Chestertown Volunteer Fire Company responded to the 9000 block of Gerogretown Road for a fire spotted by a near by resident. Reportedly it took officials about 20 minutes to defuse the flames, but not before it cased an estimate of over 30 thousand dollars in damages.

Officials say this fire deemed accidental, was allegedly caused by an electrical overload from a dryer in the laundry room. No one was reported hurt in the fire and officials say smoke detectors were present in the home but not activated.
