Indian River wins big over Seaford

The Indian River Indians took on the Seaford Bluejays at home on Monday night in a Henlopen South conference game. The favored Indians came out strong in the first quarter, but it was not until the second quarter where they dominated and stole the game.

In the first quarter, the Bluejays held the Indians to just ten points, but in the second quarter, the Indians scored twenty-five points and held Seaford to only two points. KeiJuan Major was unstoppable with 16 points in the second quarter alone and finished the game with 23 points total.

The half time score was 35-11 and both teams scored 15 points on each side during the third quarter making it a 50-26 game heading into the fourth. Seaford’s Raheem Smith helped the Bluejays put away 20 points in the fourth quarter – he finished the game and led his team with 13 points. However, the twenty points in the fourth quarter was not enough to make a comeback; Kiante Sturgis closed out the fourth quarter with six of his fifteen points and the Indians went on to win the game 65-46.

Both teams will be playing in the Governors Challenge Basketball Tournament that starts the day after Christmas.
