Indian River Dominates Catocin

The Indian River boys basketball team jumped out to a big lead Monday morning against Catocin, and coasted on their way to a 77-44 win in their opening game of the Governor’s Challenge. Kei’Juan Major led the way with 21 points.

The Indians used a full court press to open the game and their guards feasted off of it; forcing several turnovers leading to easy lay ins the other way. IR looked just as dangerous in the half court as Major opened the game on fire, connecting on 3 3-pointers in the first quarter. As efficient as they were on offense, they were just as disruptive defensively and the full out blitz dominated Catocin early. As the lead grew, the Indians began to gamble more and more defensively and the Cougars seemingly couldn’t handle it as their turnovers became more and more costly. The Indians would take a 38-16 lead into halftime, and never looked back as they rolled to the win.  Davon Justice added 11 points in the win, while Isiah Bratton finished with 8 points and 5 rebounds.
