Duffy Lights It Up, Pushes Clippers Past Blake
Jorden Duffy is known as one of the best basketball players in this area and after this week, a couple more people got the message. The senior scored a tounament-high 35 points, pacing James M. Bennett past J.H. Blake 75-72, Tuesday night at the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center.
The Clippers would need every one of his 15 made baskets on the night, as Blake would keep the game close all night. Although Bennett led for all but about 3 minutes of the game, their largest lead throughout the contest was only 12, and that was just before halftime.
J.H. Blake would fight back in the third, outscoring Bennett 22-20 behind Nathan Bonsu’s team-high 31 points. Blake would eventually tie the game, but Duffy, along with center Cliff Rosseau (10 points, 13 rebounds) would put the game away.
The win earned Bennett the Bracket III Governor’s Challenge title, the Clippers are the only Wicomico County team to go undefeated in the tournament.
