Duff’s 33 Powers Bennett Past Westminster
The James M. Bennett team picked up another big win Monday night when they defeated Westminster 60-55 in their first game of the Governor’s Challenge. Jorden Duffy came up huge again for the Clippers, finishing with 33 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists.
Duffy wasted little time going to work, as he was showing the full repertoire in the first quarter; coming up with steals for fast break lay ins, hitting threes and passing to open teammates for quick scores. Bennett would take a 12-10 lead after the first and keep at it to extend that lead to 26-23 lead into halftime. The teams would exchange buckets throughout the third and we would go to the 4th in a tight ball game. There Duffy would again take over, scoring 8 straight points to give his team a small cushion. Then his supporting cast stepped up in huge moments to help close out the game. Michael Jean-Charles hit back to back threes and got an and one lay in to go, while Barry Gaines found a way to score from the inside as well. Trayshawn Wright would manage the offense beautifully down the stretch as the Clippers would hold on for the win.
