73-year-old graduates from Salisbury University

The phrase “age isn’t anything but a number” was proven Saturday as 73-year-old Ron Siers earned his bachelors degree from Salisbury University.  

Siers dropped out of school back in 1961, and his oldest son held him to a bet. If his son earned his PhD, his father would have to go back to school and earn his degree.
Siers’ son did earn his PhD, so his father re-enrolled into school back in 2009.

However, Siers tells 47ABC the journey to getting his degree wasn’t easy. He was behind with technology and had a hard time catching up, but he says it was all worth it.

Ron Siers says, “After 55 years, it’s a self motivational thing, it’s the only thing in my life that I started and never finished, so I can put a period to it now, so I can now say everything I started I finished.”

Siers received a bachelors of arts in interdisciplinary studies and he tells 47ABC the only thing he plans on doing with he degree is looking at it.
