Two Arrested Following Fire Investigation

MARDELA SPRINGS, Md. – Police have arrested two people responsible for a reported fire.

On Friday, the Wicomico County 911 Center received a call at 12:21 p.m. reporting a house fire on the 25000 block of Quinton Road in Mardela Springs.

We're told fire marshals found personal property, including a pile of clothes, in the front yard when they arrived.

Authorities say they found 38 year old Christina Amedeo and a 15 year old male juvenile, both from Mardela Springs, responsible for the fire following an investigation. According to investigators, the burning articles were thrown at the house in an attempt to burn the structure.

They say the incident stems from an ongoing domestic situation.

Amedeo turned herself in to the Wicomico County Sheriff's Department and was arrested on a warrant without incident. She currently faces charges of Attempted 1st and 2nd Degree Arson, Malicious Burning 2nd Degree, Contribute to Condition of a Child and Theft. Amedeo could receive 56 years behind bars or be fined $83,500 if found guilty of every charge.

The male juvenile was charged with Attempt to Burn Structure or Property and Malicious Burning 2nd Degree. He was released into the custody of a parent, and is awaiting a decision from the Department of Juvenile Services.
