Two Accused In Harrington SUV Theft

HARRINGTON, Del. – Two people have been arrested in connection to the theft of an SUV.

Harrington Police say on November 9th, Officers responded to a call about a stolen vehicle at a home on East Street. After speaking with the owner, Police sent out a broadcast about the missing 1999 Chevrolet Suburban, and flagged the plates as stolen.

On Wednesday, Harrington PD says the vehicle was found in the Woodside area by Delaware State Police, who then took the driver 28-year-old David Preston, of Dover, into custody. Preston was handed over the Harrington Police, and the vehicle was returned to its owner.

Police say an investigation into the incident revealed that Preston was given the SUV by 22-year-old Mightys Gibbs, of Harrington, who had apparently stolen the vehicle. Gibbs couldn't initially be found, but Police got a tip that he was walking on Fleming Street near Mechanic Street, and were able to take him into custody.

Police say they then charged the two accordingly, Preston with one count of receiving stolen property over $1,500, and Gibbs with theft over $1,500, theft of a motor vehicle, and criminal mischief over $1,000. Preston was released on $2,000 unsecured bail, while Gibbs is being held at Sussex Correctional Institute on $12,000 bond.
