Sussex Central Upsets Cape

Georgetown, DE- The Sussex Central Knights won their third straight, defeating Cape Henlopen 35-21, giving the Vikings their second loss in a row and all but crushing their playoff hopes.

The Vikings jumped on the board first when Briley Brooks took a five yard touchdown with 9:23 to go in the first quarter. Central would answer almost a full quarter later when James Jenkins' 1 yard touchdown knotted the game at 7. The next drive, Ja'Von Currie would have a 1 yard touchdown of his own to make it 14-7 Cape. Shawn Savage, as he has done all year, would slice thru the Cape defense on the Knights next drive going 20 yards to the endzone, with the extra point being no good. Jason Wiberg's 22 yard touchdown from Tavon Scott would be Cape's last points of the game.

After getting an amazing touchdown from Amontay Clanton to Arron Spady on the final play of the half, the Knights gained momentum to score two more touchdowns in the second half and shut out the explosive Vikings offense in the second half.

The loss leaves Cape's playoff hopes dwindling, after starting off the season 7-0. For the Knights, the win was their third in a row after beginning the season 1-5. Central has senior night next Friday against Indian River while Cape hosts Smyrna.
