Pocomoke Field Hockey’s Run Ends At State Semi’s

Annapolis, MD – The Pocomoke field hockey team saw their season come to an end Monday night with a 2-1 loss in overtime to Fallston. The Warriors finished out the year two wins short of the state title.

The match would open up with both teams creating several scoring opportunities but with neither being able to put anything away. The Cougars keeper did a tremendous job of aggressively attacking the ball and clearing any balls around the cage the entire night. Eventually, Fallston would take the lead after they scored off a corner, but it wouldn't last for long. Just minutes later the Warriors would come back to tie the match after Lexi Butler would feed Dani Batze and she would send it home. they would head to break all square at 1-1. The Cougars would control the first 20 minutes of the second half but be unable to find the back of the cage. In the final 10 minutes of regulation, it looked like the Warriors were so close to finding the go-ahead goal, and several times were able to draw out the keeper and work around her but were unable to put one home.

Pocomoke opened overtime with two straight corners, but both times were unable to send one in. The Cougars then countered and drew a corner, which would result in the matches final goal.
