Nov. 10 – Lower Shore Health Insurance Assistance Program

GOOD MORNING DELMARVA - What is the Lower Shore Health Insurance Assistance Program?

· The Lower Shore Health Insurance Assistance Program helps residents of Somerset, Wicomico, and Worcester counties by answering questions and linking them to health coverage through the state's health insurance marketplace, Maryland Health Connection.

· The program also does outreach throughout the community in the form of information tables, participating in community events, and presentations.

· Staff are mobile and located throughout the Lower Shore so consumers can meet with someone in their area.

- What is the timeline for enrollment?

· Open enrollment begins in mid-November and ends in mid-February.

· For those that got a health plan through Maryland Health Connection in 2014, they will need to re-enroll by December 18 to continue their coverage for 2015.

· Medicaid enrollment is open all year.

- What is the Health Coverage Kickoff?

· Tri-County event focused on connecting Lower Shore residents with local resources. The event will feature presentations throughout the day from our program staff, browsing the new MarylandHealthConnection.gov website, other local resources, health information and screenings, and snacks. Shore Transit will be offering free rides on the day of the event.

· When: Saturday, November 15, 2014 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

· Where: One Stop Job Market in Salisbury
