MAC, Inc. Granted $39,000 From Walmart
SALISBURY, Md. - One local non-profit received a large grant for its worthy cause thanks to the Walmart Foundation.
MAC, Inc. was chosen to receive $39,000 to serve senior citizens on the Lower Eastern Shore. We're told this year's grant will be used to buy frozen foods.
Last year, the organization won $36,000 which was used to shelf-stable foods.
MAC serves Wicomico, Dorchester, Worcester, and Somerset Counties but specifically in Wicomico, they also make deliveries for disabled seniors through their Meals On Wheels program.
Peggy Bradford serves as Executive Director of MAC and tells us, it's just the meals that could bring a smile to a person's face.
“It's not only the nutrition that feeds the older person, it's that person who delivers the meal and says hello, how are you doing? It may be the only person they see during the day.”
MAC makes around five meal runs per day between Monday and Thursday. Visit their website for opportunites to volunteer.
