Kent Island Blasts Easton in 2A East Final
Stevensville, MD- With the 2A East title hanging in the balance, the Kent Island Buccaneers came out and left no doubt, shutting out Easton 41-0 en route to their third regional championship in the last four seasons.
The Bucs came out hitting early after the opening kickoff, running back Zach Goodrich punched one in just one minute and 42 seconds into the game, giving Kent Island the early 7-0 lead. After an Easton 3-and-out, Kent Island again marched down the field at will, with running back Stone Boone punching another touchdown in for the Buccaneers. Kent Island held a 14 point lead less than eight minutes into the game. Junior Mike Quinn picked off Easton quarterback Jaelon Moaney on the next drive. The interception set up Kent Island quarterback Zach Smith's quarterback dive for another touchdown. The Buccaneers held a 21-0 lead after the first 12 minutes of the game. The second quarter was much of the same. A pair of Bert Schrecongost field goals, and touchdowns by Quinn and Boone, the Bucs would take a 41-0 lead into halftime, starting the running clock. Easton managed one first down off an 11-yard run by Moaney with 9:49 to go in the second quarter.
Kent Island will host the 2A state semifinals against Dunbar High School on Friday, November 28th in Stevensville.
