Four Stephen Decatur Girls Lacrosse Players Sign Letters of Intent

Berlin, MD - Even with the lacrosse season still months away, the Stephen Decatur girls team is already excited about what this season can hold. And after a morning like they had on Tuesday, how could you blame them. Four players, Payton VanKirk, Jillian Petito, Jordan Klebe and Blair Yesko signed their letters of intent to continue playing next year in college at major universities.

Petito committed to play next spring at Mt. St. Mary's University. The senior goalkeeper will enter her final year as a Seahawk as one of the highest rated keepers not only in the Bayside, but in the state. Last season she was voted the conference defensive player of the year. On top of that, she also excels at her two other sports of choice; basketball where she is the Seahawks starting point guard, and soccer where she helped lead the way for the Seahawks to a 13-1-1 record. Petito's work in the classroom is also exemplary, holding a perfect 4.0 GPA.

VanKirk on the other hand will be attending University of Maryland Baltimore for her college career. The senior is also a three sport athlete, also competition at a high level in basketball and girls soccer. Last season the midfielder was a huge part of the offensive threat for the Seahawks, helping earn her 1st Team All-Bayside honors. VanKirk turned down offers from other universities such as Michigan to play at UMBC, because he loved the coaching staff and the opportunity to play close to home and family.

Klebe will continue playing at Kutztown University. The midfielder settled on becoming a Golden Bear after visiting the campus and really connecting with the program and it's players. Klebe began her career later than most, starting around middle school. Klebe is a two sports athlete as well, competing in indoor track and field.

And finally, Yesko has signed to continue playing at Sacred Heart University. She also earned 1st Team All-Conference. Yesko was a three year starter at attack. Yesko is a two sport athlete, also competing in basketball as well.
