Former Oriole Baines Returns To The Shore

Easton, MD- Harold Baines, a former Baltimore Oriole and son of the Eastern Shore, returned to Talbot County for the grand opening of Dick's Sporting Goods in Easton. Baines stayed for 2 hours signing autographs and being greeted by fans and old friends of the area.

Baines, a St. Michaels High School graduate, now serves as Assistant Hitting Coach for the Chicago White Sox. Baines debuted in the majors on April 10th, 1980 for the White Sox. Over his 21 year career, Baines hit .289 with 2,866 hits, 384 home runs, and 1,628 RBIs. Baines played for the Texas Rangers, Oakland Athletics, Baltimore Orioles, and the Cleveland Indians before his last MLB appearance on September 27th, 2001 for Chicago.

Baines was a six time All-Star, Silver Slugger Award winner, won a World Series as a coach on the 2005 White Sox team, and his #3 is retired on in Chicago.
