Cape Field Hockey Down Polytech For 4th Straight State Title

Newark, DE – The Cape Henlopen field hockey team defeated Polytech 3-1 Saturday afternoon to claim their 4th straight state championship. The Vikings finished the season with a perfect 16-0 record.

The teams would be locked in a defensive battle the first half and would go into the break tied at 0-0. The scoring would heat up in the second though as just a few minutes into the period Sydney Ostroski would put one in off a perfect cross from Samantha Broadhurst to take a 1-0 lead. The lead wouldn't last for long though as the Panthers came right back after Jamie Trabaudo would score on a diving shot to tie the match up at 1-1. We would be tied with under 10 minutes to go before the Vikings would call a time out. Coming out of the timeout, the Vikings went right to work scoring when Broadhurst would send a shot in from the top of the box. Just under two minutes later, the senior was back at it to ice the match with the final goal of the game.
