Cape Field Hockey Completes Comeback, Stuns Sussex Tech

Dover, DE- The Cape Henlopen Vikings field hockey completed an amazing comeback, and remained alive in the DIAA State Field Hockey tournament defeating Sussex Tech 3-2.

Sussex Tech jumped on the defending champions early, Torrie Huk would get a goal to go with 19:28 remaining in the first half, then Kelsey Ketterman made it 2-0 Ravens with 2:31 til half.

Cape's comeback began with 16:17 to go in the game when Sydney Ostroski put one in the back of the cage to cut Tech's lead to one. With under two minutes remaining, an Erin Coverdale goal would tie the game up. While all in the stadium thought the game was sure to go to overtime, Cape rushed the ball down the field with just 13 seconds remaining, and a shot would bounce off keeper, and Tess Burnheimer would put the rebound back with just 4.5 seconds remaining.

Cape (15-0) will take on Padua in the DIAA Semifinal on Wednesday, November 12th at 6 pm at Dover High School.
