Pocomoke Field Hockey Wins 1A East Championship, Headed to States
Pocomoke City, MD- The Pocomoke Warriors legendary field hockey program is headed back to state semifinals for the first time since 2011. The Lady Warriors' defeated defending region champion Kent County 2-0.
Lexi Butler got the scoring started for Pocomoke. With 4:38 remaining in the first half, Butler got a pass from the corner, and fired a laser to the back of the box. Both teams would tough defense all day, limiting the number of scoring opportunities. The final score came from another shot from Butler, and be deflected by Peyton Becker, giving the Warriors' an insurance goal with just 6:41 to go in the game.
The Warriors look to win their first state title since 2010, will face 1A North Champion Fallston on Monday at Broadneck High School in Annapolis.
