Parkside Football Survive Late Scare From Stephen Decatur

Salisbury, MD – The Parkside football team survived a late scare from Stephen Decatur Thursday night to pull out a 35-28 win. The win improves the Rams to 4-5 while the loss drops the Seahawks to 1-8.

The Rams took the lead early after Devin Redding marches them down the field and capped it off with a short touchdown run off the left side from Wayne Gardner. The Seahawks would then answer after Justin Meekins capped off a drive with a touchdown pass down the right sideline to RJ Hayman. Back and forth we'd go as the Rams would then punch one in as Redding called his own number and would take it in. The teams would exchange a couple more touchdowns with the Rams taking a 21-14 lead into the break.

The second half the Rams defense would step up, blocking a punt and returning it for a score to push their lead to 27-14. Dryden Brous would then shake loose for Decatur, and scamper up the left sideline and dive in for the score. Still down 6, the Seahawks would pick off Redding at the 3 yard line, and Ed Zonnak would just break the plain for the score. Redding would make up for it though, driving his team down the field and capping off a long drive with a keeper off the left side for the go ahead score. The Rams would convert the two point conversion to stretch their lead to 7. The Seahawks would have on last chance, but after driving the length of the field, Meekins would get picked off at the 1 yard line by Jawan Williams to seal it.
