Decatur Girls Fall to Northern, Ending Undefeated Season

Berlin, MD- The incredible Stephen Decatur girls soccer season came to an end when the Seahawks fell to Northern-Calvert High School 3-1 on Thursday night.

Jocelyn King got the scoring started early for the Patriots of Northern when put a cross into the back of the net just four minutes into the game. The Seahawks were not phased though, just fourteen minutes later Lexi Van Kirk found sister Payton Van Kirk in the box for the score. The game would go scoreless for the rest of the half and late into the second half until the 6 minute mark when Julia Gray would find the ball at the top of the box for Northern, and race up to put a shot past Decatur goalie Lexi Gausepohl. The Patriots would add another goal less than two minutes later to push their lead to 3-1.

“It has been an incredible season, it has gone way past all my expectations,” said first-year head coach Maggie Burke. The Seahawks finished the season at 13-1-1 and won the Bayside Championship.
