Woodbridge Field Hockey Coast Past Indian River

Bridgeville, DE – The Woodbridge field hockey team continued their strong start to the season Saturday afternoon after they took down Indian River 4-1. The win improves the Blue Raiders to 5-2, while the loss drops the Indians to 2-4-1.

Hailey Andrews gave the Blue Raiders the early lead after she was able to send one home on a break away early on in the first half. The senior wasn't done there, as she would add another one just 4 minutes later. That one was from way outside the box as the sent a rifling slap shot to the back of the cage. Brady Keeler would then give Woodbridge a 3-0 lead heading into the break after she was able to score off another break away.

Indian River tried to fight there way back in the second half as Madison McGee would finally break through the Blue Raiders defense for the score. Woodbridge wasn't going to let this one slip away though as they Kelsey Eckert would score to put it away.

Woodbridge returns to action Tuesday when they play at Polytech, while Indian River is at home on Tuesday when they play Dover.
