SU Volleyball Takes Thriller Vs. Johns Hopkins

Salisbury, MD – The Salisbury University Volleyball team completed a thrilling comeback win at home Tuesday night over Johns Hopkins, 3-2 (25-21, 18-25, 18-25, 25-16, 16-14). The win improves the Sea Gulls to a school record 9-0 start to the year.

In the first set, SU looked dominate. Their outside hitters attacked the lines well and exposed the Blue Jays for taking poor angles on their blocks. Set's 2 and 3 were a vastly different story though. The Blue Jays adjusted their block and were able to start affecting the outside hitting of the Sea Gulls. With their backs against the walls, SU responded in the 4th set, forcing a winner takes all 5th set.

There the teams would go back and forth. The Blue Jays would jump out to an early lead, and take a 8-5 lead into the turn. But as they did all night, SU would respond, scoring 3 straight to tie the match at 12's. Then facing match point, a cross court attack would miss long tying the match at 14-14. Katie Stouffer would then deliver as she did all night for SU with a huge kill to give the Sea Gulls match point. Stouffer would then team up with Samantha Chubb for the match claiming block.

Salisbury is back in action this Friday when they play Mass. Boston.
