Stop The Violence – Start The Garden
SALISBURY, Md. – Groups small and large across the country are paying tribute to the victims of 9/11. In Salisbury you'll see the same but one group also used the day to help end violence among local youth.
The seeds have been planted — for fresh vegetables.
The Wicomico Partnership for Families and Children held their Stop the Violence – Start the Garden project earlier this evening. Community members and local students came together and planted several rows of vegetables.
On the anniversary of 9/11 they want to make a difference on a day to remember.
“The Wicomico Partnership brought to our attention that there was this program called A Day To Serve on 9/11 to show that Americans are giving back, that we do appreciate the sacrifice that was made by other Americans on 9/11,” said Henrietta Parker, Secretary for Stop The Violence. “This is one way to give back to the community to show that on 9/11 you can make a difference and even children can make a difference to other people.”
The Wicomico Partnership for Families and Children recently received a 12-hundred dollar grant form the governors office to help support their Stop The Violence – Start The Garden project.
