Stephen Decatur Boys Soccer Pick Up First Win Of Season, Down Mardela
Berlin, MD – The Stephen Decatur boys soccer team picked up their first win of the season Monday night when they defeated Mardela 2-0. The first half both teams would battle to a scoreless draw, with both squads creating several scoring opportunities, but neither being able to find the back of the net.
The second half, the intensity of the game began to speed up as both squads were attacking more and more. Mardela's goalie Chase Bowden came up with several incredible saves to keep the game tied. The Seahawks began taking control of the game, and came up just short on several great scoring chances til finally Jack Hammond would break through on a header from a corner kick. The Warriors continued to battle defensively, but the Seahawks were able to ice it with another goal, this time Evan Conboy found Evan Heim on a perfect cross, and he would send it in.
Stephen Decatur is back in action on Wednesday when they play Queen Anne's, while Mardela returns to action on Wednesday when they play Kent County.
