Laurel Football Shuts Out St. Elizabeth’s

Laurel DE.- The Laurel Bulldogs made a statement Friday night, shutting out the St. Elizabeth Vikings 35-0.

The Bulldogs got on the board in the first quarter when running back Traevon Dixon scampered 14 yards into the endzone. Laurel would pour it on in the second, getting a 40 yard touchdown run by senior Chucky Auguste and an 8 yard run by senior Reggie Green, posting a 21-0 score at the break.

The second half would not get any easier for the Vikings, as Auguste and Green would take over in the third quarter. Auguste took a sweep off right tackle, made two people miss and scored from 36 yards out. Minutes later, not to be outdone, Green carried straight up the middle, gave a stiff arm, and raced 66 yards to pay dirt. Auguste and Green combined for 279 of Laurel's 349 yards rushing. “We've got horses in the stable, we're skilled and athletically gifted.” said Laurel's head coach Glenn Phillips. “We put a good game plan together and the kids went out and executed it.”

Laurel next hosts Smyrna (1-1) Friday, September 19th at Bulldog Stadium, kick off is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
