Kent Island Rolls WiHi, Improves To 3-0
Salisbury, MD – The Kent Island football team kept their undefeated season going in a big way Saturday after they defeated Wicomico High School 42-7. The win improves the Buccaneers to 3-0 while the loss drops the Indians to 2-1.
The teams were locked in a defensive battle the first quarter, with neither team being able to get on the board, but the scoring would heat up for Kent Island in the second. Mike Quinn would punch one in from 3 yards out for the Bucs for the first score of the game. That was followed by a Zach Smith keeper to make it 14-0. On the next drive, Kent Island would make it a 3 score game with just 40 second remaining in the half when Smith found Mike Quinn for a touchdown.
The biggest play of the game came on the ensuing kickoff, when the Indians would muff the catch and the Buccaneers would recover. Two plays later, Smith would find Quinn one more time to make it 28-0 headed to half.
The Indians continued to battle the second half, but hurt themselves with too many penalties. THey eventually got on the board when Jordan Brittingham broke off a 63 yard touchdown run. The Bucs would go on to close the game out though.
The Buccaneers are back in action next Friday when they play at Stephen Decatur, while the Indians return to action when they travel to take on Cambridge South Dorchester.
