Kent County Field Hockey Hold On Vs. Parkside
Salisbury, MD – The Kent County field hockey team picked up a road win Wednesday afternoon after they took down Parkside 2-1 in a closely fought match. The win improves the Trojans to 5-1 on the year, while the loss drops the Rams to 4-3.
The teams were locked in a defensive battle early on, with neither team getting many shots on goal. The Rams would then become the aggressors, but several good looks were turned away by the Trojan defense which was anchored by Elizabeth Collyer. The Trojans would then have a successful counter attack, as Maddie Taylor would send a shot off the right post, but Brianne Hemstetter was there for the put back to give her team a 1-0 lead.
The defense would lock down from there the rest of the half and the teams would go into the break with Kent County up 1-0. The second half, the Trojans continued to attack and were able to push their lead to 2-0 after a nice pass to the middle found Rachael Nelson, and she would put it away. The Rams continued to fight, and were able to get a goal back after Madison Twiford would find the back of the goal. The Trojans defense would close it out from there though, and hold on for the win.
Kent County is back in action on Friday when they play at Saint Michaels, while Parkside returns to action Monday when they travel to Easton.
