Caesar Rodney Football Begin Season With Tough Loss To Salesianum

CAMDEN, DE — Friday.Night.Lights. The 2014 high school football season kicked off in Delaware and for the reigning state champions, Salesianum Sallies, they started off their season by defeating the Caesar Rodney Riders 28-7.

Riders Stadium was packed as both the Riders and Sallies took the field. The defending champs were on the board first with a 42-yard touchdown pass to John Sherlock from junior quarterback Garrett Cannon.

After that, the score just kept climbing up for the Sallies as the Riders were unable to get on the board. The Sallies defense was able to shutout the Riders for three quarters.

The biggest observation of the night was the Riders running game. They had 270 rushing yards but were ineffective in the red-zone. Their lone touchdown was 65-yard pass from Brian Lewis to Rasheed Teasley.

The Sallies will be on the road at Baynard Stadium against William Penn High and the Riders face Middletown next week.
