Pocomoke Middle School gets educational grants

Staying in Worcester County funding from the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore is creating new opportunities for middle school students and more.

Pocomoke Middle School is getting three grants.

One grant will buy several Chromebooks for the watershed study program.

Another will start up a literacy program that puts boxes of books in public spaces for anyone to borrow.

School principal, Matthew Record, says the grants will help students all over the county in several fields of study.

"It'll cover areas of science ALA and language arts as well as mathematics. We've had some really dedicated teachers who have worked hard to put those grants together and our students are really going to benefit. We have a unique opportunity our math grant is going to cover um skills working with grades 4 and 5 in the Snow Hill, Pocomoke and Berlin area."

The grants total $10,000 and are being awarded by the Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore.
