Laurel Library Hosts Eclipse Viewing Party

Towns across the Delmarva Peninsula joined in on the Solar Eclipse action Monday by holding viewing parties. The Laurel Public Library welcomed guests between 1 and 4PM and over the course of three hours.Excited eclipse enthusiasts were able to line up in Memorial Park to view the wonder in the sky.
For those trying to escape the heat, the Library offered an inside view from the cool library's community room, thanks to a live-stream of the eclipse from NASA.
Library officials tell 47 ABC that they had 500 pairs of glasses and began handing them out about a half an hour before the eclipse.
"I got here at a quarter to 11. Got here early because I didn't want to miss this. I just want to see what it's gonna feel like when it gets practically dark in the middle of the day. You think is gonna be eerie, but it's gonna be really neat," says Georgetown resident Jeanie Coolahan.
Library officials tell 47 ABC that they were planning for several hundred people to show up for the event.
Some pairs of eclipse glasses actually have a warning to "discard and not use after 3 years." So if you have glasses or were planning on using them for the next eclipse, you may want to think again.
