Man who fled after traffic stop turns himself in

Police in Rehoboth Beach say David Brown, 20, of Dover, turned himself in Monday after he was wanted on drug possession and resisting arrest charges, after police say he fled on foot from a traffic stop last week.

Police say Brown was arrested and charged with 4 misdemeanors, including one count of Marijuana Possession, one count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, one count of Resisting Arrest, and one count of criminal contempt of a domestic violence protective order.

Police say on April 25, Brown and his friend Carson Marshall, 19, of Dover, were stopped along Rehoboth Avenue for speeding. The pair were in a Dodge Dart operated by Marshall, along with two 16-year-old passengers.

Once the group was removed from the vehicle, officers say Brown fled on foot.

It was then, they say, Marshall failed a field sobriety test and was placed under arrest.

Officers then reportedly searched the vehicle and located two plastic bags containing more than 50 grams of marijuana in the areas that Marshall and Brown were previously seated.

Brown was arraigned and issued a $1700.00 unsecured bail, authorities say.

He was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution as a result of a probation violation.
